During my representation of Tunisia at Global Power Shift, I've been very inspired and empowered by the speakers and participants' stories, passion and strives for Climate justice fight.  I'd like to share with you some of the most inspirational moments. 


During the workshop on Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA), Heather Milton Lightening shared her story: 



At the same workshop, Hannah Strange, trainer at Greenpeace USA in San Francisco, faciliatated an interesting session on campaigning for Climate Justice: 



During the plenary session, Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), delivered a very emotional speech,



Following Ms.Figueres's speech, Kumi Naidoo, the South African activist and Executive Director of Green Peace International took the floor,

  بسمي وبسم عائلتي- عائلة المرحوم محمد الناصر الشابي بالدهماني -هذا  تكذيب لكل ما نشر في وسائل الإعلام عن حادثة مستشفى جهوي بالكاف لوفاة عمي    رد على مقال اقتحام قسم الاستعجالي بالمستشفى الجهوي بالكاف رسالة مفتوحة إلى السيد وزير الصحة العمومية و السيد وزير الداخلية لقد وجدت الصحف و وسائل الإعلام مادة سهلة و مثيرة لتشد إليها الرأي العام من قبيل "مدينة كذا تحترق أو مدرسة كذا تنهب أو اقتحام مستشفى" و عندما ندقق في الأمر نجد كل هذا باطلا. طلعت علينا وسائل الإعلام الثلاث المرئية و المسموعة و المكتوبة بخبر مفاده أنّ مواطنون أو أهالي مدينة الدهماني تقتحم المستشفى الجهوي بالكاف و تعتدي على من فيه و تخرب معداته، هكذا و بكل بساطة، فمن هو على غير علم بما حدث يتصور أن عصابة خارجة عن القانون هاجمت المستشفى و عاثت فيه فسادا و روّعت و خرّبت و كأن أهالي الدهماني هم بقايا بني هلال أو التاتار. لماذا يتعمّد الإعلام إلى اللجوء إلى هذه السلوكات دون تثبت أو ترو و دون الرجوع إلى المصدر أو حتى زيارة المرحوم و تقديم العزاء و استجلاء الأمر عما حدث دون تهويل أو تضخيم و يكون الإعلام

Media Control and Political Power in democratic societies ?!

Generally perceived as working to inform and enlighten public opinion, media, in western democracies, can also be a propagandistic rhetoric, manipulated by political power. The media is a communication power that could transform the whole society. Media has an incredible degree of influence with respect to shaping thought .This strength can be used constructively by educating people or destructively by misleading them. The West keeps criticizing the media controlled by dictatorships but what about media in democratic societies? How the media should influence the political climate and democratic process in Western democracies and are the media used by the state as propaganda arms in the West? It seems that the supposed role of the media has not been accomplished,  even in western democracies, because of state media control. Youth Radicalisation and Distrust
